Bite Back
There was an incident in the park last week which shows how we can have real impact in tackling those who damage the park and spoil it for others:
On Friday evening, following a call from one of the Friends of Wormholt Park, the Parks Constabulary arrived within 15 minutes of the call to discover extensive damage had been caused to a mature small leaf lime tree.
The tree is situated near to the tennis courts and approx 20 meters from the gate at the Bloemfontein end of Sawley Road.
The damage was caused by a dog biting off the bark. The owner of the dog, who was sitting with a group of people nearby, was arrested at the scene and interviewed under caution at Hammersmith Police Station where he admitted the offence of Criminal Damage.
Hammersmith & Fulham Parks Department will now be assessing the damage caused to the tree and whether it can be saved.
If you witness anyone damaging park property, breaking bottles, dealing drugs, lighting BBQs, uncontrolled dogs etc. be brave and be sensible – keep your distance and telephone Parks Constabulary, store the number in your mobile: 020 8753 5999
