News ALERT…bats!
June 24, 2012
For those of you interested in wildlife and nature there is good news, a bat was seen in the park by two Friends late evening last Tuesday. Seen flitting at speed it was most likely Britain’s smallest bat a common pipistrelle, they are only 4cm long and weigh about 5 grams – less than a £1 coin! and can eat over 3,000 tiny insects in a single night!
This is the third year running that bats have been recorded in Wormholt Park, and the Friends have registered the park with the Green City Bats scheme. If you are keen to get more involved with the park around the issue of nature and wildlife just get in touch through our email wormholtpark@gmail.com.
