National Nest Box Week

February 18, 2013

To mark National Nest Box Week and encourage more birds to Wormholt Park, the Friends have purchased and fitted two nest boxes. The boxes are made of tough long-lasting Canadian cedar wood and have been placed over 2 metres from the ground. The entrance holes are 32mm, ideal for Great Tits, Blue Tits, or Coal Tits. See if you can spot them next time you are in the park.

National Nest Box Week is organised by British Trust for Ornithology, to find out more visit their website.

A third box was put up today and reports are coming in that both Blue Tits and Great Tits have been exploring the box nearest the tennis courts.
